Our fish are jerks.

Birthdays are a BIG DEAL to Amy. If you've ever mentioned the date of your birth to her, she has committed it to memory and thinks about it whenever she sees those numbers together. For example, if your name is Kyle and your birthday is on April 19, Amy will say "Happy Birthday, Kyle!" anytime she sees the numbers 4/19. It's weird. (In fact, Amy might even chime in on this post to let us know if anyone we know has a birthday on April 19th! Amy?)

The birthdays of her nieces and nephews are of particular importance to her, and she likes to celebrate them by taking each kid out on a one-on-one (or two-on-one if I'm able to join) "birth date." We've taken Vera to see a movie, we took Marie to Jungle Java, and this year, Amy decided that she'd take Lucy to the pet store. Somehow it was decided that Lucy would get to pick out three fish and name them. These fish would live in our apartment, which meant that we'd also have to buy an aquarium. It is worth noting that I played absolutely no role in this decision making process.

End result:
Lucy had a great time, and we suddenly have a few more mouths to feed in our home. Amy drew a comic about it:

Come over and see them! (Please be advised that our living room now smells like fish water.)
